In the past three years, I have studied various topics in Biotechnology, including both fundamental theories and practical skills.

Throughout the period of study, I have obtained much useful knowledge in the pioneering field of biotechnology. The programme encourages students to develop self-learning and critical thinking skills. The lecturers and tutors gave us helpful support. Through well-designed experiments and practical studies, we were able to better understand the theories and research methodologies that are crucial to the study of biology and science.

The programme also offers a wide range of business-related subjects and provides placement and field visits, which helps us to broaden our horizons and meet the challenges of the real world.

Studying in the Applied Biology and Biotechnology programme has been a rewarding and enriching experience. Over the three years of study, I have acquired in-depth knowledge of Biotechnology and have established an interest in the biological field.

不知不覺間，我已經修讀應用物理學系的高級文憑課程一年了。在這一年裏，我深深體會到這個課程除了令自己學會有關力學、物料科學、電磁學等專業知識外，與此同時，它還著重令學生從中領悟到如何應用這些知識。短短的一年內，我接觸過許多不同類型的儀器，並學會了如何操作它們。

能在本系研習，我感到非常開心，在修業過程中更認識了很多志同道合的好朋友，彼此切磋交流，整個學習氣氛非常融洽。此外，本系還為學生提供了完善的學習配套設施，使我們在學習成效上更見事半功倍。

另一方面，我非常欣賞學系老師們的教學熱誠，他們樂於幫助學生解決疑難的精神真是值得敬佩。本系更一貫大力支持應用物理學系會所舉辦的各項活動，我身為理大學生會應用物理學系會主席，頗能深深感受到系方對我們的關愛與支持。

考試完畢後，我準備參加本系舉辦的武漢交流團，參觀當地的大學。更重要的是， 應用物理學系經常為同學提供很多升學的機會。成績優異的同學亦可於修畢本科一年級課程後, 入讀本系的學位課程。因此，我會不斷策勵自己努力奮進，冀能繼續在本系升學，日後在學術資歷上得以更上層樓。

在過去的三年，本課程全面擴闊了我對化學的認知，令我對有機、無機和分析化學的專業知識與其在日常生活中的應用，都有了深刻透徹的認識。除了與化學相關的科目外，本課程還提供一些相當實用的商業科目供同學選擇修讀，以增進同學對社會各方面的認識。總括而言，這個課程的設計既實用又靈活，令有志繼續進修或選擇在畢業後就業的同學，都能從課業研習中找到個人最合適的成長空間，因此我認為本課程絕對是同學們理想的選擇。

Studying in this programme over two years was an unforgettable experience. I acquired interesting knowledge of chemistry and learned about the practical use of materials such as polymers. I also took subjects on biology, business and language, which was very useful in broadening my horizons and will help my career. The PolyU library provided many useful resources and the professors in the Department always took good care of us.

Studying at PolyU was full of fun. I met many friends; we studied together, ate together, had fun together and encouraged each other. The Higher Diploma in Chemical Technology is a good choice if you want to have an unforgettable experience like me.

在修讀理大工程物理專業這三年中，我自覺從中獲益良多。這裡的導師非常關心學生，而同學也勤奮友善，打從一年級起，我就不斷領受到各位師長的悉心教導。另外，我在修業期間亦曾獲得諸多海外學習和實習的機會。在二年級的上學期， 我很榮幸獲系方選派前往美國長春藤名校康奈爾大學物理系學習。又在這一學年的暑假，我有幸遠赴日本東京大學工程學院研習量子計算技術。海外實習的寶貴經驗，不但讓我開拓了眼界，還全面擴寬了我的知識領域和國際視野。在這三年中，理大還在經濟上給予我很大的資助；讓我有幸分別獲得數個獎學金，包括： "Post Entry Scholarship" 、 "Professor Chau Wai-yin Memorial Scholarship" 和 "HKSAR Government Scholarship"。這些獎學金，大大減輕我畢業之後前往美國康奈爾大學攻讀工程碩士的經濟負擔。際此畢業之時，我想在這裡說句心底話：“今天我以理大為榮，明天理大以我為耀”。

I entered the BSc(Hons) in Engineering Physics (EP) programme in 2005, and was one of the first batch of students joining the double degree programme of BSc in EP and BEng(Hons) in Electronic and Information Engineering (EIE) after completing my first year of study. The EP programme broadened my theoretical knowledge of physics and materials science, and the EIE programme provided me with practical training from an engineering point of view. The two programmes deepened my understanding of each other, giving me many chances to apply theory in solving practical problems during my studies.

In the summer of my third year, I worked in the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the Hong Kong government as an internship trainee, which offered me a chance to apply my academic knowledge to real-life situations and develop interpersonal skills through cooperating with my colleagues. During my studies I became a member of the 06/07 executive committee of the PolyU Christian Fellowship. I also participated in various courses organized by the Student Affairs Office, involving advanced computer programming, Chinese calligraphy and Hong Kong law.

I would like to thank all of the staff members of AP, EIE and many other departments. They gave me valuable and challenging experiences to equip me to build up my career in the future.

I am glad that I have enrolled to study at the Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC). In doing so, I have embarked on an exploration of the fashion textile world. The ITC offers a variety of specialisms to suit the interest and ability of the students. 

For instance, in the fashion technology scheme, students learn about the different types of knitted and woven fabrics, and the theory and skills of textile coloration and finishing.  In the fashion design course, we learn about 2D and 3D pattern cutting, trends, design and developments in all forms of fashion products.  For the fashion merchandising students, in addition to textile studies, we learn the skills of co-ordinating transactions between buyers and manufacturers.  Students of fashion retailing gain knowledge of analysis of fashion and business trends, fashion buying, store operations, brand management and sales promotion.

As a student of fashion design, I am really exploring my favorite subject.  I fully enjoy my life at the ITC. I love to learn the new ways of doing things and how to handle the machinery in our laboratories. The teachers are nice, and have a passion to teach us and share their experiences.  I believe that this programme is very useful and surely a good start for my future career.

I have been studying at the Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) for two years.  In the fashion design programme in which I am enrolled, I have learned about different types of fabrics and their characteristics, the make-up procedures of a garment, fashion design thinking, fabric design and business skills. This knowledge will be useful to my career in the future.

The ITC provides opportunities such as competitions, projects, exhibitions, study trips and freelances work opportunities for students who are willing to participate. Apart from studies, I have gained knowledge and experience, not just from the fashion and textile subjects but also in presentation skills and learning attitude.  I have had a very solid campus life in these two years. 

My learning experience has also been valuable because of the passion of the teachers.  They treat us as if we were their children, nurturing us and giving full support to our personal development at all times. I am reluctant to part from this happy family and would like to further my studies at the ITC.

在這個課程裏，除了學習到書本上的知識外，我也建立了獨立思考的能力及增強了個人的自信心。當我在學習上遇到困難時，導師們均樂於協助，諄諄善誘的教導, 悉心的關懷, 令我的學習更見成效。此外，ITC也為學生提供一個完善的學習環境，令我們更能享受整個學習過程。我十分珍惜這個難得的學習機會。
