Applicants for full-time Bachelor's Degree programmes with non-local qualifications may not be able to meet the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (Advanced Supplementary level) Use of English requirement. The following may be considered as acceptable alternatives:
- A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 for the paper-based test; or
a TOEFL score of 213 for the computer-based test; or a TOEFL score of 79 for the Internet-based test. OR
- An overall Band Score of 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
For applicants who can provide evidence that they have reached an equivalent English standard, or have studied in an English-medium international high school or above for at least two years, the above English language requirement can be waived.
The other language requirement (i.e. D in a HKCEE language other than Chinese and English) for applicants who are pursuing a non-local curriculum or who have not taken Chinese since Secondary Five may be waived. However, the total number of required subjects still needs to be met for such cases.
Individual cases will be considered on their own merits by the departments concerned. Applicants may be required to attend interviews or tests to further demonstrate their language proficiency. |
