Credit Transfers & Exemptions

If you have previously studied at a university, polytechnic or other post-secondary institution and completed subjects that are relevant to your chosen programme, then you may be eligible for a credit transfer or exemption from some programme requirements.

Details are listed under the entrance requirements of the respective programmes. Normally, no more than 50 per cent of the credits that are normally required for your PolyU award can be transferred from other institutions. For credits obtained from programmes within PolyU, no more than 67 per cent can normally be transferred. In cases in which both types of credits are transferred, no more than 50 per cent of the required number of credits may be transferred. The validity period for credits earned is normally eight years from the year of attainment, i.e. the year in which the subject was completed.

For new students admitted based on advanced academic qualifications (such as a Higher Diploma or an Associate Degree), the department concerned may specify a credit requirement for completion which is less than that required for students admitted through normal entry. The number of credits required for completion by individual students will be shown on the notice of offer.
