Entry Scholarships for Outstanding Admittees

How can I apply for a scholarship? 

There is no need for students to apply separately for these scholarships. The University will identify outstanding applicants, and will inform them of the award of scholarships upon notification of the offer of admission.

Who is eligible?

All admittees to our government-funded undergraduate programmes with outstanding qualifications or achievements will be considered for academic or non-academic scholarships.

The following details are the current practices and may be subject to review. 

Academic Scholarships

A scholarship is guaranteed if you are a current year Secondary Seven student and fulfil any one of the following requirements in your first attempt at the local examinations concerned.#

HKALE 2As or 1A+2Bs or the equivalent and C in AS Chinese* and English
OR
HKALE 1A+1B or the equivalent and C in AS Chinese* and English plus 4As in HKCEE
An amount equal to the tuition fee, plus an allowance of HK$15,000 per academic year
HKALE 1A+1B or the equivalent and C in AS Chinese* and English
OR
HKALE 3Bs or the equivalent and C in AS Chinese* and English
An amount equal to the tuition fee per academic year
A score of 13 or above in any 3 HKALE subjects
OR
any 2 HKALE subjects + any 2 AS subjects

(Using a scale of grade A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1 for HKALE subjects and A=2.5, B=2, C=1.5, D=1, and E=0.5 for AS subjects)
A scholarship of HK$30,000 per academic year

# Applicants taking GCE examinations/IB curriculum will also be considered based on individual merit.
* If you have not taken Chinese since HKCEE, you will be expected to have acquired C in another AS Level subject together with at least a B in another language in HKCEE.

 

Non-academic Scholarships

You will be eligible for consideration for a scholarship that equals the tuition fee if you have reached an international level of performance in a non-academic area (art, leadership, music, sports, service and others such as bridge or chess) or are assessed to be outstanding in more than one non-academic area.

As long as you have submitted your profile to PolyU through any of the following three non-academic achievements schemes, PolyU will consider you for a non-academic scholarship.
